Sharing special moments

Being apart from others means that we’ve been sharing more of our special moments and important information online. But that also means more opportunities for others to take advantage of this sharing for less joyous reasons.

This week, keep yourself safe when sharing special moments by following these security tips:

  1. Stay safe when sharing files.
Don’t send highly sensitive material through file-sharing services. Even if you’re being safe and taking precautions, if the person you’re sending the file to isn’t also careful your information could be compromised.

  2. Watch out for malware.
Malware is the catch-all term for viruses, spyware, ransomware and more that can steal or corrupt the information on your computer. Be sure to install antivirus software and only download files from trusted sources to protect your computer from these threats.

  3. Back up your files frequently.
Even if you’ve been careful with your files, they can be corrupted or lost without warning.  Backing up your data, special photos, personal files, and important documents to a cloud storage service or external device keeps it protected against these unforeseen events.
